Swangz has proved to be good at what they do. Whatever Mzee Kyazze’s boys touch, just turns to gold. Roast & Rhyme started as a simple outdoor event that many saw as direct competition to Blankets And Wine, and wrote it off right away. But as days and months have gone by, the Swangz Avenue initiative has picked up impressively.

Roast And Rhyme prides in getting unique headliners including those that were almost forgotten: they had Maddox Ssematimba for the previous episode and this time round they’ve brought vocal prodigy Jamal Wasswa back to the scene. Jamal graced Uganda with hits like “Abakyala Bazira”, “Musomesa” among others, but hasn’t been hitting in a long time.

Other notable suprises in queue for this episode include Chagga aka Big Papa. Having spent many years managing Radio and Weasel, we almost forgot Chagga’s vocal and writing prowess. But of course what’s a show without young blood? We expect the king of freestyle Fefe Busi and Aka dope band to accompany legends like The Mith Mayanja.

Anything that comes as a surprise at the show won’t surprise us much though – Swangz knows how to keep secrets.
