Fufa Super 8

SC Villa 1-0 URA

Friday, 10th

Ndejje vs Onduparaka, Luwero

By Denis West

They say form is temporary but class is permanent.

Record league winners Villa didn’t need an assemblage of galacticos to beat fancied URA 1-0 at Namboole on Thursday afternoon in the Fufa Super 8 tourney.

Abdularajab Ajab scored the all important goal after being sent through by stand-in skipper Ambrose Kirya. Yet head coach Moses Basena believes they can do more than that.

“First of all I’m happy that I have had a soft landing back in club management after spending time with the national team,” he elatedly told Galaxy website after his first win.

“We have many new players to give a chance but the new boys have impressed me by following my instructions today.

“We are going to let them play without pressure in the coming matches and I promise you they will play better.”

Villa missed custodian Samson Kirya and new skipper Joseph Nsubuga but still had the guts to stretch Sam Ssimbwa’s rejuvinated side.

Villa will play the winner between new Uganda Premier League entrants Ndejje University and Onduparaka that play tomorrow.

The overall winner of the tourney will bag shs10m while the runner up will take home shs5m.
