One of the worst kept secrets will be confirmed this Tuesday – Asaph Mwebaze will finally be unveiled as the new Onduparaka coach.

“Onduparaka has passion and ambition which attracted me,” Mwebaze revealed as he kisses goodbye to Maroons FC, a club he has called home for 12 years.

You’re safe to say he will be greeted by a baptism of fire as his first game in charge has Onduparaka hosting SC Villa in the second semifinal of the Pilsner Super 8 on Thursday at Green Light Stadium.

The 45-year-old’s vast experience in the local league doesn’t accord him room for fear. “If you win the semifinal, you have a chance to put your hand on the silverware. Looking at the squad and ambitions, you think this team can go far,” he promised with optimism.

Onduparaka, Betway part ways Yet it is not all joy in Arua, main sponsors Betway Company have left the club after two years. “It is unfortunate that this has come to an end but we are grateful we have created impact with what we did with Onduparaka,”

Betway Uganda CEO Adellah Agaba said. By the time their partnership crumbled, Betway had reaped Shs100m in 2016 and a step up to Shs600m in 2017. The Caterpillars, now left with MTN, will hope Mwebaze comes in with more blessings. We wish you well coach……
