Gen. Mugisha Muntu has added his voice on the current wave of defiance among the population towards security and government.

Gen. Muntu appeared on NTV political talk show late Thursday as a panelist to debate the return of Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine from specialized treatment in the US.

The city and some areas of Wakiso experienced Bobi Wine’s supporters running battles with security. The former army commander believes people have been pushed to the wall to behave the way they do.

He warned: “When you push people on the wall, people react differently, we are a clear example of that. Leaders should be asking themselves why the people go to the extents which they go.”

Gen. Muntu tipped: “If things were going right, nobody would pay any attention to any of us, even if somebody went to City Square and spoke from morning until evening. If things are going right, no crowds will form.”

Gen. Muntu urged: “Those in leadership should recognize the situation as it is, that there are deep challenges and we must all move together in the direction of reform in an honest genuine way for the good of the country.”

He added: “Or they can keep their heads stuck in the sand like ostriches do and pretend that there are no problems. Gen Museveni has to make up his mind. I hope there are still a significant number of leaders in the regime who are still sober, who will stand firm.”
