President Yoweri Museveni says Uganda Cranes players lack power in their shots after offering to fly the team to Lesotho on Tuesday as they battle to make it to Cameroon.
President Museveni hosted the team at State House on Independence evening ahead of their upcoming fixture in Lesotho.
The President offered to chartered plane to fly the team to Lesotho with additional Shs200M to the players.
President Museveni confirmed: “The government will charter a plane to transport the team to Lesotho for their Africa Cup of Nations encounter next Tuesday. I hope the team maintains their top spot and qualifies for the 2019 championship in Cameroon. Each player will also receive a token of appreciation.”
He hailed the team on turning out for the nation in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
President Museveni said: “I watched some of their games in Gabon but noticed their shots were lacking in power. I hope the managers can do something about the diet and training to ensure the players are stronger, like the late David Otii was.”
