Exclusive Intel from United Arab Emirates indicates that ‘tycoon’ Sulaiman Kabangala Mbuga commonly known as SK Mbuga is still in Dubai maximum security prison.
There were rumours earlier this week that Mbuga was out but State minister for Foreign Affairs, Henry Oryem Okello says he is not aware of Mr Mbuga’s return to Uganda and work is in progress to have him released.
Mbuga who was arrested 8 months ago, we are told he must pay a Dubai businessman $250,000 (Shs987m) before being set free. Our sources also intimated to us that he also has money issues with another Oman national, Mr Ali Ahmad Ahmad Bur Omar.
Surprisingly, Mbuga’s name did not feature on the list of 38 Ugandans who were held in Dubai jails as of September 18. For now, Ugandan embassy in Abu Dhabi is mediating for consular services to have Mbuga released from jail.
