The Fufa Disciplinary Committee has suspended Express FC winger Michael Birungi for four matches for attacking referees following a 1-0 loss to Tooro United at Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal on January 29th.
According to the ruling dated February 5, Birungi attacked match officials at the centre of the field of play immediately after the match against Tooro United away in Buhinga.
According to FUFA disciprinary committee Case No 001/UPL/2019, Express FC captain Shirt No. 11 Birungi Michael attacked the match officials at the centre of the field of play immediately after the match, Tooro United vs Express FC on 29/01/2019 at Buhinga stadium, Fort Portal.
That means Birungi will miss the league matches against BUL FC, Nyamityobora FC, Maroons and FUFA Uganda Cup Round of 16 against Police FC at Wankulukuku.
The ban comes at a wrong time when two Express FC fowards; Eric Kambale and Tony Odur are out with injuries.
In related development, the 6-time league champions through CEO, Hamza Junju have appealed the ruling claiming Birungi was not served the petition against him contrary to article 31.2 (b) iii of the FUFA competitions rules 2018/2019.
