Five people have sustained injuries following protests at Kisekka Market.

The protests broke out on Tuesday following the arrest of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi yesterday. Kyagulanyi is currently remanded at Luzira prison until May 2, 2019, when he is expected to reappear.

The injured include; two pregnant women and three men who sustained multiple wounds.

One of the victims is reported to have been hit by a tear gas canister.

One of the pregnant women is also reported to be in critical condition.

Praise Turyebwa, the Manager Kampala West Branch, Red Cross says that the injured have been rushed to Mulago hospital.

The injured were all picked up from the Kisekka area. Currently, the army and police operatives are heavily deployed in Kisekka. Business is a standstill after traders closed their shops.
