As some big artists are still in slumber, other hardworking stars are undoubtedly filling the void. In Uganda, as a musician you either float or gets swept away by the strong wave due to the competitive nature of the music industry. Music fans will not ever complain as they can replace any sleepy artist with an up coming youngster in just a blink of an eye.

After a thorough research, We have compiled the country most loved, played, downloaded and requested songs as of June 2019. Note that for any song to feature on this list, it has to be at least two months and above old.

1.  Ebango — Rickman

I call Rickman a surprise package! I first heard this Ebango song when Chameleone uploaded a clip on his Instagram account while flossing with dollars- it was playing in the background and i completely fell in love with it. If it plays in the club, and you remain seated, there is a problem. Ebango is everywhere…it is unstoppable!

2.  Obubadi — John Blaq

Last year, John Blaq made a huge statement! Whatever song he dropped on market became a hit instantly. This year too the deep voiced star is showing no signs of rusting. Someone we will call it a spark but with the little experience he has, JB is delivering beyond words. Obubadi carries the energy that you can only find in a club. The lyrics conjure the image of sweaty, uninhibited bodies moving in unison with the possibility of succumbing to the throb of the beat.

3. Gutujja — B2C and Rema

2018 wasn’t any friendly for B2C…whatever these boys dropped on market didn’t workout as anticipated despite the fact that some of the songs were nice. The worse came to the worst when they parted ways with Andy Events. But with so much to prove, the singing trio has this year bounced back with Gutujja, probably the biggest song write now. In this song, they feature Rema Namakula whose voice has always been magical. With in 2 weeks, Gutujja had already reached one million views on YouTube.

4. Bambi— Fresh Kid

It’s not easy for Ugandans to pay attention to upcoming artistes, most especially those who very young like Fresh Kid. ‘Bambi’ song is hit in Uganda and it is everywhere and Fresh Kid is literally fresh on the scene.

5. Hullo Hullo – King Saha

Damn! When i personally i listened to the first verse of this song, i got goose bumps. Hullo Hullo stands out and for many reasons no DJ can dare trash it though it has no those hard groovy beats. If it plays, one can think Mowzey Radio has resurrected.

6. Love Yo — Feffe Busi

“Badman fall in love!” That line from this song can tap yo attention and stay hooked! Love Yo is the first ever love song from Feffe Bussi- he says. This release sets high expectations for ladies not to fear dating Rastas because they also fall in love. Whether you like the artist or not, Love yo is huge hit.

7. Yitayo  – Winnie Nwagi & Chozen Blood

Last year Winnie Nwagi gave us Mataala, a tune which i believe was way bigger than most of the average songs from other favored and overrated artists. This year the bummy but flexible Swangz Avenue’s underrated asset has teamed up with TNS’ reject, Choszen Blood to sooth our hearts with ‘Yitayo’. This song needs no ‘Kerere’, period!

8. Easy – Bebe Cool

Like love you Everyday, Easy is another classic from Bebe Cool! Forget the fact that it almost sounds like Queen, a song done by Longombas in 2012. This is the same song Bebe dedicated to his stunning bae, Zuena Kirema but it has turned out to be an anthem for the lovers.

9. Nkuloga – Grenade

I remember predicting Nkuloga, becoming a big hit that would announce Grenade on a big stage when i was having a musical chat with my colleague Ashraf Habib who doubles as our manager. Am glad my prediction came to pass! You can’t mention chart topping songs and miss out ‘Nkuloga’ and by the end of this year, Grenade will dine with the likes on John Blaq. Afazaali nkuloga…

10. Squeeze- Fille Ft Voltage Music

This Collabo was released 3 months back but it had failed to impress. However lately (like a fortnight back), Squeeze is the talk of the town and i believe it has a huge potential to rub shoulders with Gutujja. The unique urban touch mixed with zouk beats is something to fuss about in this song.

BONUS. Jangu OndabeSpice Diana

Spice Diana is proving critics wrong year in year out, thanks to her management. She is one of those female artists in the industry who have floated and stood out. Her versatility and performance is just an icing on the cake. Jangu Ondabe is one of those songs which are currently ruling the airwaves.
