Zamalek’s new headcoach Patrice Carteron landed in Egypt to lead the White Knights against Sharqia.

The whites are set to start the defending campaign of their Egypt cup crown today Wednesday in the last 32 of the tournament.

Carteron, who had led the Red Devils before, was appointed as new manager after the sacking of former coach Milutin Sredojevic Micho.

Zamalek’s board of directors sacked the Serbian coach due to the bad results and performances. The White Knights suffered two consecutive defeats from Enppi(2-1) in the Egyptian league and TP Mazembe(3-0) in the CAF Champions League.

On Monday, December 2nd, Zamalek’s chairman Mortada Mansour appointed Carteron as the White Knights’ new Headcoach, succeeding Milutin Sredojevic Micho.

“Zamalek board of directors, headed by Mortada Mansour decided to appoint Patrice Carteron as new Headcoach and Sami El-Shashini and Ayman Abdel Aziz as assistant coaches,” Mansour said on his official facebook page.

On August 18, the White Knights named Micho as a new Headcoach as the Serbian coach signed a one-year deal with the Whites.

Micho, who joined Zamalek after terminating his contract with Orlando Pirates fc, was the third choice for the Whites’ board of directors after the Portuguese manager Jesualdo Ferreira and the Argentine coach Ramon Angel Diaz.

Noteworthy, Zamalek clinched the Confederation Cup for the first time in their history after securing the victory in a dramatic penalty shootout against Patrick Kaddu’s RS Berkane at Burg Al Arab Stadium (5-3) in May.

The White Knights, who were drawn in group A in the CAF Champions League alongside C.D. Primeiro de Agosto(Angola), Zesco United(Zambia) and TP Mazembe(DRC) are set to play against C.D. Primeiro de Agosto on Saturday in the second round of the group stages.
