The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup kicks off today 7th December 2019 and the games are to be played at the Startimes Stadium, Lugogo and Namboole so far as the confirmed venues.

Uganda readies for the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge cup with the final squad already announced,  the following players are expected to start as per the Headcoach Jonathan Mckinstry.

1. Charles Lukwago(KCCA Fc); The KCCA Fc skipper is expected to start in between the posts going by his form and the contribution he has had towards his team’s performance from the bottom half of the league to the second position by the first round.

2. Paul Willa(Vipers Sc); The former Police fc right back has atleast been consistent enough at his team during the first round. He has an edge to start ahead of URA’s Ashiraf Mandela.

3. Kizza Mustafa(KCCA Fc); He is the best left back in the country with no doubt. He has been instrumental for KCCA Fc, scoring four goals in the first half of the 2019-20 Uganda Premier League. He has been close to the national team set-ups and also featured on the left of defense when Uganda waa qualifying for the 2020 Cameroon CHAN tournament.

4. John Revita(KCCA Fc); His level of maturity in defense should help him edge-out competitors like Proline’s Mustafa Mujuzi and URA’s Paul Patrick Mbowa.

5. Halid Lwaliwa(Vipers); He was feared injured during his club’s final Startimes Uganda Premier League first round game against Maroons but recovered and will be giving Mckinstry’s team the mantle to defend the title.

6. Nicholas Kasozi(KCCA Fc); Perhaps not a preferred starter in the position when it comes to Mike Mutebi’s team. However, the former SC Villa and Synergy midfelder has proven beyond doubt to become a Cranes darling and Headcoach Jonathan Mckinstry is expected to place him in the defensive midfield.

7. Muzamir Mutyaba(KCCA Fc); Like Kasozi, Mityana may probably nit be the best of options for Mike Mutebi at KCCA Fc but the 2017 Airtel FUFA awards MVP has been trying to force playing time on merit on the Cranes team.

8. Allan Okello(KCCA Fc); He should start as the team’s creative midfielder going by form and he is already heard at the level.

9. Fahad Bayo(Vipers); He has scored nine goals in the domestic league so far and has had a bright start to the Cranes duty featuring and scoring at the different levels. Since his return from Zambia, Bayo has proven he is the right candidate to lead Uganda’s attacking line.

10. Vianey Ssekajugo(Wakiso Giants); He has scored seven goals for his new club and if nit going by size, has shown a level of intelligence that not many players exhibit.

11. Joel Madondo(Busoga United); He may have fallen below his standards, having scored only three goals so far this season, but he is a better supporting striker than any of his compatriots.

Uganda is to face Burundi in their opening game at the Startimes stadium Lugogo this evening.
