Sudan and Zanzibar played out to a 1-1 draw in a group B contest of the ongoing 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup at Startimes Stadium Lugogo.

Montasir Osman Yahiya’s late strike cancelled out Makame Khamis Mussa’s goal to salvage a point for Sudan against 10-man Zanzibar.

Makame who was a key pillar for Zanzibar’s 2017 CECAFA event as they finished runners up came off the bench to fire his side into the lead.

With only five minutes to normal time, Zanzibar were reduced to 10 men when Ahmada Ibrahim was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Deep in stoppage time, second half substitute Yahiya leveled matters for the Sudanese with a brilliant effort.

Sudan will next face off with Kenya whereas Zanzibar will entertain Tanzania as their next games.
