Four criminals accused of plotting the murder of one engineer, Sharrif Sserunkuma have been incarcerated by the flying squad unit in Katwe.

Early this month, Engineer Sharif Sserunkuma was brutally murdered in Makindye Division when an irate mob pounced on and beat him to his death on suspicion that he was part of a criminal gang perpetually stealing their property.

A case was filed at Kibiri police by Sserunkuma’s family who maintained his innocence in relation to his murder but not much was done, this led the family to file for fresh investigations into his killing with Katwe police station.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, says fresh investigations indicate that Sserunkuma was killed by robbers claiming that he was a thief.

Police have since picked up four thugs including Denis Wamayi, Alan Twine, and Muzafaru Musedde.

Owoyesigire says that one of the thugs Wamayi confessed to murdering Sserunkuma after spotting him with huge sums of cash on his mobile money account upon his return from Arua district where he was working.

In his statement to police, Wamayi reportedly claimed that together with his accomplices they trailed the deceased while on his way home and grabbed him to an isolated area before staging a dramatic scene while making alarm portraying him as a thief.

The cold-blooded thugs later sold off the deceased’s phone in Matugga after failing to sketch his Mobile Money pin.
