A huge eucalyptus tree has blocked off the Kampala- Jinja Road injuring 3 people and causing heavy Traffic flow at Banda.

The victims who are currently nursing injuries at the hospital have been identified as Anwar David and Golomba Richard and another Boda Boda rider still unidentified.

The eucalyptus tree that fell in the middle of the road at 12 pm left commercial and passenger vehicles stuck causing traffic along the road stretching from Kyambogo to Kireka.

Eyewitnesses at the scene claim the tree was not firm on the ground because someone with a nursery bed around kept removing the soil surrounding the tree to facilitate his nursery bed.

According to the two victims we spoke to, a mechanic and cyclist say they were sitting at a when the tree fell suddenly hitting one of them on the leg and banging another hard on the back.

The tree also hit another bodaboda cyclist who was unlucky to be passing by when the tree was falling, he was taken unconscious to the hospital where he is nursing life-threatening injuries,

Dr. Burkirwa Mary says one of the victims is in a critical condition while the other two sustained minor injuries..

Fire brigade team, traffic and OCs from Banda and Jinja Road are currently cutting the tree.
