Mbarara City and Vipers settled for a goalless draw after 90 minutes on Tuesday evening at Bombo Barracks play ground in the Startimes Uganda Premier League match day 19.

Mbarara City made the first attempt at the goal in the second minute but Solomon Okwalinga’s low cross was cleared away by Vipers Ibrahim Tembo for a corner.

Paul Mucureezi long shot went wide after a well built up from Karim Watambala and Bobos Byaruhanga in the 20th minute.

The Venoms could have gone ahead in the 31st minute but Bobos Byaruhanga’s long range shot was well saved by the Mbarara City Custodian Tom Ikara.

This was the fourth draw played out by Mbarara City and Vipers in their last six meetings in the league thus two wins for Vipers.

Vipers stay top with 43 points, two points ahead of KCCA Fc but have dropped 5 points in their previous two matches.

In the second half, Ivan Eyam forced Vipers custodian Fabien Mutombora into a save in the closing stages of the game.

Steven Othieno, Pistis Barenge and Ronald Otto for Mbarara City were booked for making unnecessary fouls whereas Aziz Kayondo was booked from the side of the Venoms.

Vipers will face Onduparaka in their next game on Sunday 2nd February whereas Mbarara City who are now on 23 points in 19 games will travel to Express Fc on Feb 2nd.
