A total of 104,476 candidates registered for the 2019 UACE Examination from 2,298 centers compared to 99,516 candidates from 2,094 candidates in 2018.

UNEB secretary general Dan Odondgo revealed that female candidates outperformed males in all the subjects at the principal level pass in Arts, mathematics, physics, and Agriculture. Male candidates were, however, better in chemistry, Biology, Art and General paper.

He noted that the failure rates among female candidates are lower at 0.9 percent as compared to their male counterparts at 1.7 percent.

Prof Mary Okwakol, the UNEB Chairperson says the 2019 UACE examinations were conducted well with overall better performance registered in 2019 as compared to 2018.

She, however, noted with concern that entries for science candidates were quite low with only 30% registered for mathematics and only 10% registered for science subjects

Okwakol noted that cases of Examinations malpractice at UACE have been low. This notwithstanding that UNEB will continue to put in place additional measures to eliminate malpractice so as to ensure credible results.

The Uneb chairperson also reminded the public that UNEB is about to start the exercise of registering candidates for the 2020 Examinations.

She also clarified that that registration fees have remained the same as for 2019, that is Shs, 34,000 for PLE, Shs 164,000 for UCE and Shs 186,000 for UACE.
