President Yoweri Museveni has ordered security to comb the areas of Wakiso District to find the killers of Arua Municipality member of Parliament Ibrahim Abiriga Friday evening as he retired to his home.
President Museveni took to his social media page twitter to air out his dismay at the brutal killing of the former RDC Arua and Yumbe.

Police have cordoned off the crime scene and are trying to get leads to the killers of the MP who died on spot after several bullets aimed at his vehicle.
The fallen MP has been a loyal cadre of President Museveni and was vocal when the amendment of the Presidential age limit debate came up in the public domain.

Below is President Museveni’s message he posted on his twitter account Friday evening.

I have received news about the senseless killing of Arua Municipality MP, Hon Ibrahim Abiriga, and his bodyguard on the city’s outskirts. I have tasked security agencies to expeditiously find these killers and the nation will be updated soon. May Hon Abiriga’s soul rest in peace.

These were signs that should have led to suspicion. Had the locals rang the police, this crime could have been prevented. Therefore, please, report everything that is suspicious and do so promptly.
Once the surveillance equipment is installed, which will be done in a few months, the work of identifying criminals will be prompt. Even today, while still using our old methods, provided there is alertness, the criminals will be defeated.

Vigilance will lead to the capture of these criminals as it happened in Masaka. These criminals were moving on a numberless “pikipiki” and their heads were covered with helmets even when they were standing in one place.

Col Abiriga was a dedicated supporter and a patriotic Ugandan who worked for peace in West Nile. We stand with his family. I call upon Ugandans to be vigilant.
