3-time league champions, Vipers SC have unveiled Mexican tactician, Xavier Martinez and handed him a 2-year contract to replace Portuguese, Jorge Miguel Da Costa as their new head coach.

Dressed in black suit, Martinez was presented to the media at Vipers SC home in Kitende – Entebbe road. The Venoms patron, Lawrence Mulindwa revealed that they received 11 applications, Two were Africans and 7 from outside Africa.

“We wanted a coach who is a teacher, one who adds value to the players. Our dream is to sell players to Europe, see players growth and being summoned to national team” Mulindwa told the press.
Coach Martinez promised to take Vipers to another level.
“ I have personal and professional targets. I am a former professional player. I always wanted to be an example as a player. Now, I want to be an example to Vipers players. We have to be protagonists in the Africa Champions League. There is a target to defend the domestic league. I promise to be the best. We have a good squad. We shall do the best for Uganda and Vipers. I promise everything I have to perfect this project. I want to be an example, not just for destiny. An example outside the country. I promise to the fans that this team will be best here in Uganda and outside the country” Martinez assure the fans and media.
Xavier Martinez joins Vipers who have already signed 12 players in the ongoing transfer window; Murushid Jjuuko (Simba – TZ), Henry Katongole (SC Villa), Tito Okello (Benfica De Macau), Masavu skipper Abraham Ndugwa (Masavu), Dickens Okwir (Sporting United), Joseph Jjanjali, Bashir Sekagya (UPDF), Fred Okot, Brian Majwega (URA), Livingstone “C4” Mulondo (Kirinya-Jinja S.S), Ibrahim Kiyemba (SC Villa) and Rahmat Senfuka (Police FC).
