The continued detention of former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura by the military drew debate in Parliament, Thursday, forcing the speaker Rebecca Kadaga to ask government to respond.

Gen. Kayihura has been in military detention since June 13 when he was arrested from his country home in Kashagama in Lyantonde District on undisclosed charges.

Following pressure from floor of the house on why Gen. Kayihura is not being produced before court, the Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda said:
“You know the former IGP is a senior cadre of UPDF. He is being handled according to the right procedures of handling such a cadre.”
