Government has revealed that the talk of military court martial dropping charges against Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine are hogwash.
Bobi Wine appeared before the army court Martial in Gulu and was relieved of charges of possessing illegal ammunition and fire arms.

The government mouthpiece Frank Tumwebaze addressing a media gathering in Kampala rubbished the widespread headlines in the different media to claim there was nothing special about the developments in Gulu Court Martial under the leadership of Lt. Gen. Andrew Guti.

A visibly charged Tumwebaze said: “We are not in a popularity contest or beauty contest. The Court Martial has not dropped the charges but transferred the charges.”
He revealed: “This came on the request of the DPP. The DPP requested the Court Martial to take over the charges and try them in a civilian court.”
The government mouthpiece who also doubles as the minister for ICT said: “The charges are there. Let nobody deceive. The DPP requested the Court Martial. So the Court Martial had to accept and give.”
Tumwebaze went on: “So those who quick to say charges are dropped so to portray government as panicky and fearing. It is the same propaganda.”

The minister insisted: “Kyagulanyi will be charged in the civilian court from what I have gathered.”
He explained: “The Court Martial has power to try any civilian as long as you are found to be in possession of military hardware, or in possession of items of military preserve of the army guns, fatigue and involved in military activities or subversion. It is not that the military court is rewriting the law.”
Bobi Wine was remanded at Gulu Prison along with Kasiano Wadri (Arua Municipality), Paul Mwiru (Jinja East) and Gerald Karuhanga (Ntungamo Municipality).
