Government has come out fighting to defend its position on stopping MPs Rober Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) and Francis at Entebbe International Airport over the weekend.

Rubaga Hospital cleared Bobi Wine and Zaake to fly out for specialist treatment in the USA and India, respectively.

Minister of Health addressing a news conference at the Media Centre in Kampala, dismissed Rubaga Hospital clearance as ‘lacking’.

Dr. Ruth Aceng told media: “Hon Aceng: When you decline to be touched, we don’t touch you. We only explain. The examination was at the request of police and it was given to them. The Members of Parliament left on their own. The report from Rubaga Hospital was lacking, we can’t use an intern’s report.”

Minister Aceng said: “I want to emphasise that we had and still have all the expertise to treat those Members of Parliament that left. Our hospitals are good enough.”

The minister revealed: “The board sits and makes a decision whether you should leave the country or not. The two Members of Parliament Hon Francis Zaake and Bobi Wine went on their choice.”

Minister Aceng went on: “We have specialists to handle the cases the Members of Parliament that went abroad. We are not shamed about our hospitals, we have all requirements for specialised treatment of the MPs that left.”

She added: “Neither of the two Members of Parliament requested for medical referrals. A Senior Consultant is supposed to write a letter requesting the board for a client to be referred abroad.”
