Tanzania based defender Murushid Jjuko has been a mainstay in the Uganda Cranes defence for the last three years – and he continues to be the fulcrum of the national team defence.
The Simba composed defensive rock is earmarked to pair KCCA skipper Timothy Awany on Saturday when Uganda takes on Tanzania in the second Afcon qualifying game in Group L – and he says he is in shape for another remarkable outing in the ready and black jersey.

“I have studied and I’m well conversant with the Tanzanian style of play. I’m not scared about any Tanzanian player,” said Jjuko, who joined the Tanzanian giants in 2015 from defunct SC Victoria University.

“If I have managed to tame more dangerous players like Muhammad Salam, Emmanuel Adebayor and the Ayew brothers, then Mbwana Samata and John Bocco have no way through,” he added.

Gangly striker Bocco is Jjuko’s skipper at Simba and has just been pardoned by head coach Emmanuel Amunike to return to the team fold after an earlier suspension.

“They need this game but we aren’t relaxed too because we tested the sweetness of Afcon so we can’t afford losing this match,” Jjuko revealed.

He has just settled a long standing transfer speculation by staying at Simba – at least for now.

“I have never signed with any team which means I’m still a Simba player. If I’m to sign with any team you will get to know about it officially not through rumours.”
