Nyege Nyege is the talk of town!
Minister of Ethics Father Simon Lokodo shocked the world when he ordered the event off after claiming it was a gay and open sex event.
However, South African singer Sho Madjozi who is expected to perform at the four day event in Jinja just can’t wait to be part of the days.

Sho explained in an interview on NBS TV: “The best thing about #MTNNyegeNyege is that it is genuinely African. In South Africa we have similar festivals but they are very white. I am sorry but I have to be blunt about it.”
She hailed Jinja: “I had never heard about Jinja until I found out about #MTNNyegeNyege. Jinja is so beautiful. If I am to recommend a place anywhere on the world someone should visit, Jinja would be one of those.”
Darlyne Komukama one of the organisers, said: “Unlike what people think, the name Nyege Nyege means the irresistible urge to dance.”
Komukama on the cancellation noted: “We were alarmed by Minister Lokodo’s remarks yesterday because we have had meetings with the authorities including the IGP and the Internal Affairs minister before who gave us the green light. Glad we are still on.”
She went on: “The most important thing is most of the people who come from out of Uganda are Africans. Last year we had 6 buses from Kenya alone.”
