Gen. Mugisha Muntu left members fuming at Fairway Hotel after a message leaked on social media that he was quitting FDC.

Gen. Muntu defeated in the FDC Presidential elections sought for a meeting with the party to put his position clear and find ground elsewhere.

The former army chief surprisingly had some elements within his group leak the message on to social media and cause fracas at the meeting.

Gen. Muntu apologized to the group: “I’ve always been a firm believer in following one’s principles. One such principle is honesty. Today (Tuesday), one of our team members erroneously and prematurely released a draft statement to the public. I apologise for that. Please find attached, our official position.”

This did not boil down well with elements strongly allied to the Patrick Oboi Amuriat wing.

Mubarak Munyagwa, the Kawempe North MP who was in the meeting felt betrayed by the move.

Munyagwa blasted: “Why did he then come in for the meeting? He should have sat down and simply announced he is moving on.”
