President Yoweri Museveni has apologised to the people of Bududa and other lanslide prone areas, revealing  that Shs.8 billion that is budgeted for annually for the next 10 years, will be made available for the resettlement exercise in the areas following recurrent massive landslides that have led to loss of several lives.

The President was yesterday(Sunday) afternoon visiting the people of Suume village in Bukalasi Sub-County, Bududa District who lost their loved ones in the Thursday 11th October landslide that swept some areas ,leaving at least 44 people dead and many others injured.

He expressed his disappointment in ‘his people’, saying; “I was let down by my people. I am here to apologise on their behalf. A plan was made and the people had agreed to move. But it seems there was lack of coordination. I apologise for this; we are now going to move very fast,”.

He, however, reminded the people not to cultivate on the hilly areas, noting that government will settle those who want in trading centres.
