Former Member of Parliament Makindye East Hussein Kyanjo strongly believes militias terrorizing citizens in the city are beyond the control of President Yoweri Museveni.
A group of armed militia last week beat up and brutally arrested DP man Yusuf Kawooya in broad day light near Christ the King in Kampala, leading to public outrage.
Kyanjo in an interview with NBS TV, revealed: “These people are out of control and Mr. Museveni no longer has control over them.”

He stated: “These are some powerful individuals who own these militias and they make them do anything. The actors in the security forces are strong men and women, they change number plates as they wish, in Kampala, they’ve divided themselves into cells.”
Kyanjo explained: “The idea of brutal arresting has been around for a long time. The training has caused problems because of lack of control, these are just armed groups, calling them security groups is wrong. The training has escalated the violation of human rights.”
He challenged: “How can people be vigilant in the presence of 3 wielding armed men? This training of militia from 1998 has messed up everything in the county.”
Kyanjo pointed: “People are wondering for nothing, since the entry into government by NRM, there has been a constant training of soldiers, police and civilians in the name of ‘Mukyaka Mukyaka’, today, very many people know how to use a gun.”
The former MP traced: “We need to look at our own history, people are wondering why there is an escalation but we have social media, when someone gets a snap or video, they send it all over without an editorial confirmation.”
