Police in Nakaseke district are hunting for a unknown assailants who attacked and stabbed to death the Chairperson of Semuto People’s Savings and Credit Cooperative Society last night.
According to Micheal Lwalanda, the former LCIII chairperson of Semuto Town Council, Constantine Ssemakadde, 85, was stabbed in the rib and the head by the attackers at around 9 p.m. outside his home in Nakazzi village, Semuto Sub County.
Lwalanda explains that Ssemakadde sounded an alarm attracting the attention of his wife Gertrude Nalubega, who was also stabbed as she attempted to rescue him.
Ssemakadde was rushed to Nakaseke Hospital, but he had unfortunately died on the way to medical facility. His wife was then rushed to Kiwoko Hospital since there was no Health Worker at Nakaseke hospital.
Paul Kangave, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson says the attackers attempted to break into the house in vain after the couple’s grandchildren locked themselves inside.
He adds that efforts to take sniffer dogs to track the killers did not yield any results because the crime scene was tampered with by human activity and rain that came after the attack.
