St. Bernard’s Senior Secondary School, Mannya, students in critical condition after the fire that gutted a dormitory have been transferred to Nsambya Hospital and Mbarara Hospital for specialized treatment.

Prossy Namuganza, the deputy head teacher in charge of students and staff welfare confirmed that an emergency meeting held at the school has resolved that students whose condition had worsened should be transferred to both, Nsambya hospital in Kampala and Mbarara regional referral hospital respectively.

Yesterday, three students were transferred from Kitovu hospital to Kampala after their health condition deteriorated.

She added that she has been with these students in the hospital since the fire gutted the school on Sunday Night and the doctors have advised them to admit two of them identified as Atlas Jerome and Geoffrey Arinaitwe to Nsambya Hospital for more treatment. Bill Gates Nuwagaba’s parents have however insisted and requested their child to be transferred to Mbarara hospital.

Namuganza said the others three identified as Henry Sserukeera, Rashid Bbosa, and Frank Kamanda are expected to heal anytime.

The government promised to pay hospital and burial bills.
