Police in Kampala is hunting for a suspected killer of a UPDF Officer, who is a basket ball coach.
According to Luke Owoyesigire, Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, the deceased, identified as Daniel Ogwang, who was attached to the army’s basket ball club who was shot dead last night at Starbex Fuel Staion in Mbuya.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had an argument with the pump attendant at the fuel station when a trigger happy security guard attached to SGS security group suddenly appeared, shooting him dead.
The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) posted on its social media page mourning the player.
“It’s with great sadness that we announce the death of one of our own Ogwang Daniel who has been a UPDF Tomahawks Player, a Coach at Gems International and above all a father who was shot dead today morning. May his soul Rest in eternal peace,” the federation posted.
Baker Kyambadde, a UPDF officer and referee in the National League said they will miss Ogwang, a disciplined player, talented coach and a team player.
There will be a church service and body viewing later on today at Gems International 3pm. The body will then be taken to Bombo and burial in Lira district over the weekend.
