Police has dismissed reports that city businessman, Freeman Kiyimba has been arrested, following the Lake Victoria boat accident tragedy.
Rumors had started spreading on social media this afternoon that the tycoon was picked up by the Police CID Officers from his home.
The rumors followed pictures which emerged on social media showing a number of police vehicles at Kiyimba’s home.
They businessman was one of about 26 people that survived the Saturday boat accident on Lake Victoria.
33 bodies had by this evening been retrieved from the waters after as the search by the police continues, according to UPDF deputy spokesperson, Deo Akiiki.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigire said police officers were at Kiyimba’s home to question him about the incident.
The police mouthpiece said Kiyimba and the rest of the survivors of the boat accident were being visited by police officers in a move to get the right facts regarding the incident.
The questioning of the survivors according to the police spokesman is still voluntary, and that those that still don’t want to speak out will not be forced.
Meanwhile, Ugandans are still in deep agony, with most of them calling for proper Safety measures.
Singer Sheeba Karungi has also urged government to expeditiously regulate water transport in the country.
