Emmanuel Eguki, a resident of Kibuli, a Kampala suburb has pleaded guilty to defiling his best friend’s 10 year old daughter. The 32-year-old, Eguki, who had initially pleaded not guilty, changed his plea to guilty as his victim was due to testify against him.
Prosecution had lined up the minor as the second witness in the case following the testimony of her father against the accused. Justice Jane Francis Abodo convicted Eguki on his own plea of guilt. Eguki asked the girl’s family to forgive him as well as court to have mercy on him.
Prosecution sates that on May 3rd, 2016 while in Kibuli at around 10pm, Eguki defiled the 10-year-old pupil of Nsambya Police Children School while her father was attending to his shop.
The girl’s father, whose identity has been withheld to protect the minor, told court that he was staying together with the suspect and his daughter when the incident happened.
According to the father, Eguki passed at the shop, which is about 150Metres from his residence. Eguki, who was drunk, reportedly went straight to the rental where the 10 year old girl was and defiled her.
He says that about 10 minutes later the victim came running to the shop accusing the suspect of raping her.
The father told court that he immediately ran to the room and found Eguki lying on the bed with his belt and Fly open.
