Two more people have died bringing the death toll in the Kapchorwa bus accident to 21 people.  The two accident victims breathed their last at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital this morning where they had been admitted in critical condition.

The deceased haven’t yet been identified. The two were part of 38 people who were traveling aboard a bus belonging to Kiryandongo technical institute registration number UG 2833E .

The bus lost control while descending Tewei hill in Sippi Town council in Kapchorwa along Kapchorwa-Sironko road last evening and overturned three times killing 19 people on board.

Rogers Taitika, the Sipi Region Police Spokesperson, says 17 other accident victims are still in danger while five are recuperating whereas four others have been transferred to Kampala for better management.

According to Taitika, majority of the accident victims were employees of the National Cooperative League of the United States based in Masindi, Kiryandongo and Dokolo districts who had headed for their end of year party in Mbale and decided to go for a tour at Sipi falls in Kapchorwa district. He says there were 38 people aboard the bus including four tour guides from the Kapchorwa based Kaseremu Tours.

Two of the tour guides identified as Jamil Rajab and Monday Boniface are among the dead.

Meanwhile, Persons who lost lives when a vehicle rammed into a group of people in Wakisi, Njeru Municipality last night have been identified.

The deceased include Joel Kalulu, 14,  Bushra Lyaga,13,  Musa Bakumbaine,16,  Joel Emunet,22, Simon Wandera,25, Brian Okumu,18,  Kiiza Ouma,15,  Bridget Nassanga,20 and Stella Agasa, 10. The accident left nine other people injured.

They were all part of a group that was following Kadodi, a cultural fest that precedes the circumcision ceremony of the Bagisu when a TATA registration number UAK 227, loaded with sugarcane lost control and killed five on the spot. Five others were pronounced dead on arrival at Jinja Hospital.

Sezzibwa Regional Traffic Officer Israel Wambesyo said that the search is on, for the driver who took off after the grisly incident.
