Three people from the same family are nursing severe wounds at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital after machete-wielding thugs raided their home at Kiyanja village in Masaka district last night.
George Muhoozi 80, his wife Specioza Kabutooro 74, and their 16-year-old granddaughter Radisha Nabukenya were severely beaten by thugs who robbed their home in the wee hours.
Muhoozi narrates that the thugs forced themselves into his house and suddenly started beating the occupants while demanding for money.
Radisha Nabukenya, another victim narrated the thugs cautioned them against sounding any alarm threatening they would finish them off if they disobeyed the orders.
Greater Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson Lameck Kigozi confirmed the incident, saying they have obtained some leads that can help them trace the perpetrators of the crime. He explains that police are currently investigating a close relative of the family who has allegedly been threatening their lives.
Masaka sub region suffered a similar incident on the new year’s eve of 2018 when thugs raided villages in Lwengo and Bukomansimbi districts where they hacked six people and injured 12 others.
