Even when some FDC fanatics don’t want to hear it being said to them, the fact of the matter is that Kyadondo East legislator Honorable Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine has taken a significant shine away from long time opposition figure head Dr kiiza Besigye and has become the country’s new opposition darling.
The Arua debacle that happened in August last year came as a blessing in disguise and just propelled the singing politician’s career to the next level.
Bobi Wine continued to show his strength when he successfully campaigned and endorsed three members of parliament during the by elections in Bugiri, Runkigiri and Arua.
Although we can’t authoritatively conclude that the candidates that won in those by-elections did so entirely because of Bobi Win’s influence, we can certainly gauge and see how much of an important main stem he has become in the opposition.
However when all in said and done Bobi Wine hasn’t addressed and is certainly no way closer to tacking the main challenge that prevented Dr Kizza Besigye from becoming president both in 2006 and 2011.
Here is the thing, the opposition and most especially Dr Kiiza Besigye always complains about Museveni stealing their votes an allegation that is true to some extent given the unfair environment in which our elections are held.
After years of accusing Museveni and NRM of vote rigging, Besigye and the entire FDC haven’t yet set up permanent structures in the country to make sure their votes are protected but then keep coming up with the same excuse. They haven’t put up measures to make it difficult for Museveni to steal the votes even when they have genuinely won him on the ballot.This partly explains why people like Mugisha Muntu finally split with the FDC.
As Bobi Wine looks to take the mantle away from Besigye, he honestly hasn’t done anything fundamental which makes me to feel the mighty Sevo won’t steal his votes.
Apart from usual politicking on social media,what measures has he put in place to ensure he safe guards his votes come 2021 because as was the case with Besigye, Ugandans are sick and tired of the vote rigging excuse.
Bobi Wine should go on ground and put up a system that will ensure not only his votes are not stolen but that Sevo doesn’t exaggerate his own figures from the one he was supposed to get.
The ‘Ndaga Muntu’ initiative by people power movement is a good one but can only be effective if permanent structures are built by the Kyadondo East legislator
