Arsenal are moving to secure the long-term future of their lethal strike force Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The duo were the goalscoring heroes against Valencia in the Europa League semi-final. Arsenal scored seven goals over the two legs — Lacazette with two and Aubameyang once in the 3-1 win at the Emirates, before Aubameyang scored a hat-trick and Lacazette the other in a 4-2 victory in Spain.

Talks are planned this summer to extend the contracts of the pair as Arsenal look to avoid further loss of key players.

The trend started back in 2012 when Robin van Persie was had one year left on his deal and Arsenal decided to cash in by selling him to Manchester United for £22.5million rather than lose him on a free transfer the following summer.

The club were faced with a replica scenario with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain two years ago.

He also had 12 months left and with no new contract agreed, Arsenal sold him to Liverpool for £35m.

Aaron Ramsey will leave on a free transfer to Juventus because he is a free agent.

The fans are furious and Arsenal will now act to prevent similar situations arising with Aubameyang and Lacazette.
