Police have launched a manhunt for armed thugs accused of shooting two mobile money operators to death in Zzana along Entebbe Road on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Harriet Naluwadde 33 and her employee, Moreen Nakabubi 25. The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Patrick Onyango, said the duo was gunned down shortly after closing their shop on their way home.

According to Police, the duo was gunned down by five thugs moving on three motorcycles. Much as police have not mentioned the attires the thugs were wearing, eye witnesses say they were donning military attire.

It’s reported that Nalwadda first struggled with the thugs as they tried to take her bag, which contained the money. They finally overpowered her, took the bag and shot her dead before shooting Nakabubi as well.

The case was reported to Kirimanyaga Police post in the area and Onyango confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

Onyango says police will check its records to understand how investigations into Naluwadde’s attack in 2015 were conducted and concluded. She was shot in the thighs back then and was operated in hospital. She resumed her mobile money business after healing.

The incident in Zzana happened about 500M from the newly installed Closed Circuit Television cameras  (CCTV) security cameras. However, investigators say the thugs seem to have monitored the area and were sure the cameras couldn’t capture the scene.

Barely two weeks ago, had thugs moving on three motorcycles raided Cheap General Hardware in Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District where they killed three workers people and made off with Shs300M. The thugs who were armed with AK47 rifles blocked Nansana -Hoima Road just a few meters from a police station.
