At least 10 activists, including 9 women and one man have been arrested as Police sabotaged a demonstration at Bat Valley Primary School that was arranged by women activists following last week’s ‘demeaning’ statements against, Teddy  by her husband; House of Prayer Ministries pastor, Aloysius Bugingo.

They had by press time been taken to Wandegeya Police Station. The angry and concerned activists were holding cotton wool, sanitary pads and placards displaying all sorts of messages like ‘Justice for Teddy’, ‘Bugingo should be arrested’, ‘Women deserve respect’, among others.

They had planned to petition the speaker and also March to Pastor Bugingo’s prayer centre in Makerere-Kikoni to deliver the cotton cool and sanitary pads to him after he publicly complained that he tolerated his wife in their marriage even when she had fistula for 10 years.

Edison Kakuru, one of the activists, said Pastor Bugingo is not fit to be a pastor following his behavior of washing dirty linen in public.

Women who include singer Sophia Gombya also expressed their disappointment;

Yesterday, the head of House of Prayer Ministries apologized to his wife but another activist only identified as Matovu said this is not enough, urging religious leaders and government to step in and punish him.

 Police on Sunday had to deploy at his church fearing that the two groups would end up in a fistfight, but the activists didn’t turn up. Now, yet to be confirmed news indicate that police has summoned the pastor.

Pastor Bugingo and wife Teddy Bugingo are battling in family court to end the marriage after his wife accused him of having a love affair with one of his media worker,  Susan Makula.

Pastor Bugingo has had several controversies. In 2017, he was alleged to have ordered members of his congregation to burn King James Version (KJV) and Good News version bibles for having wrong interpretation of the Holy Scriptures by referring to the Holy spirit as Holy ghost.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson however, confirms that the activists have since been released with their concern to be looked into as soon as possible;
