Singer and now politician Joseph Mayanja, commonly known as Chameleone has downplayed claims that he joined the Democratic Party ,DP, as a mole, planted in the party to spy for President Yoweri Museveni.
Chameleone who was recently unveiled as a DP member and party’s National chief mobilizer ;to the surprise of many, today addressed journalists at the party’s headquarters where he challenged any one with a party card acknowledging him as an NRM member to come out and shame him in public ;
Chameleone is eyeing the Kampala mayoral seat on the DP ticket, but a number of Ugandans have since questioned his intentions following his relationship with president Museveni and also having participated in the president’s 20016 ‘Tubonga Naawe’ campaign song (loosely translated as ‘’We support you’’).
At the start of the address, Chameleone sung Bobi Wine’s Tuliyambala Engule song to strongly show that he is not in bad terms with people power and the opposition in general;
Chameleone also called on those who want him to change his name, to deal with it because he has used the name since his childhood and this very name has taken Uganda to grater heights;
Meanwhile, KMP Police, Patrick Onyango has trashed reports that Chameleone was arrested for causing commotion and chaos in the city with his supporters after the address at the party headquarters;
