Police has spoken out on the torture and death of Michael Alinda, a musician also called Ziggy Wine.
It is alleged that he was kidnapped on 21st July and tortured, with his eye plucked out and his fingers chopped off.
Ziggy Wine, who was also a music producer working with a recording studio owned by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, succumbed to torture wounds at Mulago National Referral Hospital yesterday.
Unknown people are said to have dropped him at Mulago Hospital casualty ward half-dead. According to the family members, who found him on August 1, he was found badly tortured, with blood oozing out of one of his eyes.
When our reporter visited the hospital yesterday, Ziggy Wine was found being fed with tubes inserted through his nose. He was unable to talk or recognize any one. He later succumbed to the injuries last night.
Now, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, while addressing journalists in Kampala this morning said investigations are ongoing to ascertain what exactly led the death of Ziggy Wine.
Enanga says they will use footage from the CCTV camera at Mulago, emphasizing that no stone will be left un-turned . Police however, warns members of the public against politicizing Ziggy Wine’s death ;
Meanwhile, as the family pitched camp at Mulago hospital today , to receive the body of the local artist who succumbed to injuries, Immaculate Kiconco , his sister said it is unfortunate he passed on before he could give his own account of the story;
The police Field Force Unit of was by press time heavily deployed at Mulago Hospital as family and friends waited at the mortuary to receive the body of deceased. Ziggy Wine’s remains will be taken to Ganda village in Nansana Municipality.
