Word making rounds on social media indicate that an old ailing customer of Equity Bank was reportedly stopped from accessing funds from his account on pretext that he had to physically show up at the branch.
According to Nakato Molly, the daughter to the old ailing man, officials at Equity refused to release funds as they wanted him to physically appear at the Branch citing security concerns.
It is said that when the family members pressed senior managers at the bank a little harder, they decided to send one of their workers to the Norvik Hospital to take pictures and confirm if indeed the old man was sick.
What has left many people baffled on social media are claims from that daughter alleging that even after taking pictures of his dad on hospital bed the bank still insisted on having him physically sign for his money at the bank.
Having to endure the pain of sickness the old man was put in an ambulance and taken to the bank to sign for his funds.
It is said that the old man wanted the fund to clear his bills at Norvik hospital were he had been getting treatment before being transferred to Nakasero Hospital for further specialized medical care
