Paul Pogba’s brother has said it is common knowledge that Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of the Manchester United midfielder.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer but remained at Old Trafford.

Zidane could not pull together the finances to persuade United to sell but may reignite his interest further down the line.

Pogba’s brother Mathias, who plays for Manchego in the Spanish fourth tier, opened up on the situation.

He told Radio Marca: ‘Zidane wanted players, he didn’t get them, but I have no doubt that he’s going to do the work he needs to do in order to get the team back to the level he wants.

‘I like Zidane and he likes my brother – everyone knows it.’

Juventus were also linked with a move for Pogba in the summer but United were holding out for £150million.

His agent Mino Raiola attempted to instigate a transfer and even said: ‘Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.’
