The 9th edition of the University Beach Soccer Challenge is on this Saturday 26th October 2019 at Lido Beach Resort Entebbe with a number of universities taking part.

This championship started in 2011 and was won by Multitech Business School. The championship has been consistently organized and attracted a good number of universities across the country.

The defending champion is St. Lawrence University after beating Nkumba University on the finals.

This is one of the elite beach soccer competitions. It gives the national team opportunity to pick the best talents for the national duty.

As Uganda prepares to host Afcon 2020 Beach soccer finals, such elite championship helps the technical team of Uganda Sand Cranes to have a variety of choices as they select the team for national duty.

Remember Uganda is to take part in the 3rd edition of Copa Dar-es-Salaam international beach soccer tournament from 20th to 26th, December 2019. So this university championship will provide an opportunity for the headcoach Mr. Salim Jamal Muwonge.

Teams are expected to arrive at Lido Beach Resort Entebbe by 10am tomorrow(Saturday) to undergo the player verification exercise to weed out non-students.

This tournament is strictly for university students. Any institution that will be caught fielding non-students will be severely handled as per the regulations.

This championship is organized in collaboration with Association of Uganda University Sports(AUUS) and Federation of Uganda Football Associations(FUFA).

The guest of honor is the acting FUFA president Mr. Justus Mugisha.
