Dr. Kizza Besigye spent the entire weekend with wife Engineer Winnie Byanyima  and son Anselm Beisgye in Switzerland to help her acclimatise to the new conditions.

Dr. Besigye’s wife Engineer Byanyima is taking up the new role of Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

The FDC leader returned last night to join his party’s news conference organised at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

However, Dr. Besigye found himself in the thick of teargas as police armed to the teeth used to water Canon to block him and his supporters at Kireka from proceeding to the national stadium.

The former Presidential candidate was arrested and driven to Nagalama Police Station where he was detained.

His vehicle Land Cruiser UBA 695R smashed by the right window side, was towed away by police trucks.

Police fired teargas at Dr Besigye who got on of his car to address his supporters at Kireka.

The opposition political activist dropped from the roof top of his car after he was overwhelmed by the strong tear gas.

Dr Besigye was expected to address a seminar aimed at bringing together party leaders from all regions of the country.
