KCCA FC patron, Kampala’s Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has dismissed the football club board that was appointed by the KCCA Executive Director Engineer Andrew Kitaka Mubiru, recently.
Last month KCCA used their twitter handle to announce a new board for the team in which they appointed Martin SSekajja as the new board chairman, replacing interim Aggrey Ashaba.
Ashaba has been instead made the assistant to Sekajja.
Lukwago has, however, appointed another board committee with Sekajja as the chairman and Makindye mayor, Ali Nganda Kasirye Mulyanyama as the assistant.
Former acting chairman Ashaba has been appointed as a fan’s representative on Lukwago’s board that also has members Kik club legend Tom Lwanga a former CEO David Tamale as the secretary.
In an exclusive interview with the Galaxy FM website, Lukwago said that according to the law, the board by the authority is invalid, noting that it is only him with powers to appoint one.
“The KCCA act together with section 17 if the local government act invest powers to appoint any board in the office of the Lord mayor, with approval of the Lord mayor, with approval of Council that is the authority and that is what i did,” Lukwago said.

“I made recommendations of people to be appointed for getting purposes. The 11 man board we put in place headed by Martin Sekajja assisted by His Worship Ali Nganda Kasirye Mulyanyama is the one which is lawful.”
Lukwago said that he expects the Kampala minister, other KCCA officials to respect the new club board that he appointed.
According to the Kampala Lord Mayor, the new board that will take the Kasasiro boys forward include as follows;
1. Martin Sekajja (Chairman)
2. Hajji Ali Nganda Kasirye (Vice Chairman)
3. David Tamale (Secretary)
4. Aggrey Ashaba (Fans Representative)
5. Brenda Orishiba (Board Member)
6. Kennedy Okello (Board Member)
7. Moses Kataabu (Board Member)
8. Bruhan Byaruhanga (Board Member)
9. Aidah Zawedde (Board Member)
10. Joseph Kirimanyi (Board Member)
11. Tom Lwanga (Board Member)
The mayor who doubles as KCCA Fc patron further said the club’s recent poor performance can be attributed to what he termed as bad policies by the current administration citing the release of key players as a bad decision that has coated the club greatly.
“There are few policy matters at the club that we need to change. The policy of selling our stars mist be revised because the club is being drained. After losing Patrick Kaddu and Timothy Dennis Awany among other star players, the team has performed badly,” Lukwago said.
KCCA FC who have won the Uganda Premier League for 13 times including last year are current 7th on the table with 13 points and two losses in seven games played.
The Kasasiro boys were last week ejected from the CAF Confederations Cup after falling 4-1 to Algeria’s Paradou.
They had earlier been eliminated from the CAF Champions League at their own fortress at Startimes stadium in Lugogo by Angola’s Petro du Luanda.
