A Uganda Peoples Defence Force- UPDF soldier attached to the 3rd Division Headquarters in Moroto District has hacked his wife injuring her badly on the head.
Corporal Stanley Adrionzi, 42 chopped his wife Jane Aera, on the head twice and collar bone at around 2:00 am before handing himself to police.
Adrionzi inherited Aera after her husband, Lokiru Emmanuel Fericho, also a UPDF soldier died in an accident two years ago.
Neighbors said that on Thursday, the couple acquired a loan from a financial institution and went to a drinking joint in Moroto town.
Their neighbor Private Bernard Mangusho says that they were surprised to find Aeya lying in a pool of blood on Friday.
Mangusho says they have always been a peaceful couple with no problem. ”Even the night before the incident I heard them talking to each other well, but I was surprised when other neighbors came knocking at my door in the morning , saying something had happened.”Mangusho narrates.
Aera is currently admitted at Moroto Regional Referral Hospital.
Telesphor Turyamumanya, the 3rd Division Army Spokesperson has condemned the incident. He says the officer will face the law in accordance with the UPDF act of 2005 and other laws.
