Police in Bulenga has in custody an evil housemaid who allegedly murdered her one-day-old baby and dropped it in a pit latrine shortly after giving birth.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owesigirye identified the accused as Madina Hayase a resident of Bulenga, Wakiso district.
Hayase believed to be in her early twenties was working as a maid to one Nansanga Barbra when she was ballooned by an unknown man.
According to preliminary findings, a security guard in the vicinity alerted the Landlord after he heard cries emanating from the pit latrine on Wednesday at 8:30 pm.
Owesigirye says Police received a call from the Landlord at about that a baby had been dumped in a Latrine and rushed to the scene with the fire brigade and rescue services. Together with residents, they managed to retrieve the baby alive.
The frail baby was immediately rushed to BMC Bulenga Health center where it stayed its last few hours and died on Thursday morning.
The body was taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem as police continue with investigations into the matter.
