Parliament wants the committee on physical infrastructure to look at the progress on the construction of the Isimba public access bridge that connects Kayunga and Kamuli.
The speaker has directed the committee to carry out an oversight visit with her.
Recently, Minister of state for minerals Peter Lokeris presented a statement on the construction of the bridge in which he noted that construction of the bridge is ongoing and is expected to be finalized in 2020.
Lokeris identified a few challenges being faced in the process among them land acquisition in which unresolved compensation claims up to 400 billion shillings now.
James Walunswaka MP Bunyole West, however, doesn’t agree with the notion t by the minister that construction of the bridge will be completed by 2020.
The legislator claims he interacted with the contractor who informed the process has stalled until the government avails 35 million dollars that was used to construct the dam.
Walunswaka even said that some of the workers are on sit down strike as they have not been paid.
