Somalia recorded their first win at the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup with a slim 1-0 victory over Burundi in a group A contest at Startimes stadium Lugogo.

Omar Abdulahi first half strike in the 40th minute on a half volley separated the two sides.

Burundi’s Ndikumana Landry was sent off in the closing stages of the game due to dangerous play.

Somalia are now third in group A with four points from three games while journey for Burundi in the competition ends without a single point in the four games they have played.

In the early kick-off, Eritrea humbled Djibouti 3-0 to go second in group A with six points.

Somalia will take on Eritrea on Sunday with the game to determine who joins Uganda who already qualified for the semifinals of the event and on the same day Uganda will entertain Djibouti.
