MTN Uganda has bowed to increasing pressure and announced a package of internet bundles with unlimited expiration. The data expiration will depend on what the user does with the internet.
Under this, Internet users will now get 6MB (megabytes) for Shs 100, 80MB for Shs 1,000 and 1GB(Gigabytes) for Shs 10,000. However, visiting heavy websites, videos, and document downloads quickly consumes this data.
This comes after a Ugandan sued telecom companies over the expiry of data weeks ago.
Last month, East African Legislative Assembly Uganda representative, Dennis Namara, petitioned High court in Kampala over the expiry of data bundles by telecom companies. MTN didn’t wait for the case to be seen through.
Telecommunications companies across Africa have been subject to legal suits by several individuals, for letting data bundles expire before being used up, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa are now offering no expiry internet.
