A horrible road accident has claimed the lives of six people at Rubanga trading center along the Kabale – Mbarara highway in Ntungamo district.
The accident that happened on Monday at 7:30 pm involved a school van Toyota Hiace belonging to Glory Primary School in Wakiso District which was traveling to Mbarara and a Motorcycle Bajaj.
According to an eyewitness account, the front tyres of the van registration number UBD 820Z burst, causing the vehicle to swerve off the road and in the process rammed into a motorcycle Bajaj registration number UER 363D, that had three people.
Two people on the motorcycle and four others in the van died on the spot.
Opus Justine, the Rwizi Region Police Traffic Officer says investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing and that they are yet to establish the identities of the dead . He says the injured who were rushed to Rubaare Health Center IV.
